As I’ve openly shared, at the end of 2019, I decided to get off my medication for ADHD and see how well my body and brain can manage to focus without the medication. Smart? Who knows! Lol But I figured, following the 21-day fix meal plan has cleared up my skin and changed my body so drastically, how could it NOT benefit my brain too!? There have been some really rough moments, but one thing that I’ve been proud if, is the productivity strategies I’ve developed along the way. I wanted to share these with you guys in case anyone else struggles with mental energy, focus or stamina:
1) Make a list of everything you need to do, then label every item A or B. The items on your A list ABSOLUTELY must get done before Monday. Items on the B list you should try to get done if time permits.
2) Wake up EARLY and do the toughest items first. Your willpower will get weaker as time goes on, so prioritize your toughest items early.
3) Share your list with someone- I often share on my Instagram stories @fitness_schmidtness. Accountability is KEY.
4) Drink more than 1/2 your body weight in water. Dehyrdration = brain fog!
5) Set up rewards and stopping places within your to-do list! Once you complete ___ items, you get to do that thing youd rather be doing for 10 minutes, then BACK TO IT, SISTER! lol
6) Take 30 minutes to write and evaluate your week. What went well? what didn’t? What do I need to change next week. I do this in my best self co journal.
7) Eat more small meals throughout the day. I’ve added a snack into my mid-day routine (beachbar with pb on top and some snap peas) and after I eat this it’s like the lights turn back on! I feel amazing!
8) Brain supplements help! Beachbody focus (this is a scoop you add to your shakeology) is LIFE CHANGING. I drink an extra shake with this boost in the afternoon and it is a truly a game changer!
9) I choose ONE main focus for my day and write it on a piece of scotch tape and stick it to my phone- the place I look most often. It helps me stay on track! I sometimes write it on my hand but I know most people probably wouldn’t be game for that!
